WHO WE ARE

Student Veterinary Emergency Response Association (SVERA) is dedicated to emergency preparation, emergency response, and community support. Our mission is to prepare students for emergencies in their role as a veterinarian, be a resource for communities, and offer opportunities for students to develop emergency response skills. We aim to achieve this through wet-lab trainings, lunch and learns from leaders who have been through disasters, and by going out aiding in natural disaster relief.

SVERA came into existence after the 2024 Smokehouse Creek wildfire which burned more than 1 million acres and took down more than 500 structures and countless animals. The response from TTU SVM was spearheaded by the founding officers who then decided that an organization should be started to not only prepare students for after graduation but to respond while we are in school.
